RULES

Theme

The theme of this juried art competition is Amor Vitae: Love of Life! Entries will be judged based on artistic quality and the artists’ presentation of how they depict the Culture of Life. Also a respect for all forms of life and/or that opposes abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, human cloning, stem cell research, contraception and other social concerns.

Medium

Work that is being hung should not exceed 16x20 inches in size and be ready to hang with wire hangers, no saw teeth hangers. There is a $ 5 entry fee per piece and a limit of 3 pieces per artist is allowed. Entries of drawing, painting, photography, pottery, mixed media and sculpture will be accepted.

Submission

Entries can be dropped off at the University Catholic Center, 1010 Benge Drive, Arlington, TX from 12-6pm Monday-Friday or at the Catholic Campus Center of UNT, 1303 Eagle Drive, Denton, TX 76201. The week before the show the University Catholic Center in Arlington will have extra hours to drop off work. They are: April 3, 2010 from 2-4pm and April 6-7 from 12-8pm.

All entries must include a 3”x5” card with the follow information on each piece:

  • Participant’s name
  • Age
  • Address
  • School and year
  • Phone number
  • E-mail (if available)
  • Title of piece(s)

PRIZES

There will be one first-place winner (cash prize of $ 100) and one second-place winner (cash prize of $ 50) from each of the following age categories. Winners will be notified in advance of the opening reception. If the winner cannot be present, the prize will be mailed.

  • High Schools (grades 11 and 12)
  • College (Freshman and Sophomore)
  • College (Junior and Senior)

SELLING OF ARTWORK

All artists are permitted to sell their work. The UCC will collect a 25% commission on the work. This commission will be donated to a pro-life ministry in the Diocese of Fort Worth.
